I get this idea from when I review audio profiles. I believe perhaps we should be able to caption our own profile, this would be so we don't have to rate it, but want the listener to know something about the profile before they, the person reviews it.

That sounds like a good idea to me, but what do I know?

...Yankee,

Yeah it gives the reviewer fair warning before they listen.

For instance: I chose a lion's growl instead of my voice. And some thought it cordinated with my username others left very stupid comments like "It's not creative." I don't care if it is creative. It's creative enough.

I also feel we should have some sort of tool to turn off the rating/reviews.

that last idea...well, that's the worst thing I've heard since...oh wait, your last idea!

I'm half asleep, so I may not be understanding this correctly. But, if I am, then I agree.

I like the idea.
A place where the user could type some notes to explain what the profile is about would be very interesting.

yeah, I like the idea too.

Some audio profiles are very clear and do not require explanation. But yeah, some make no sense and could use a bit of explanation.

Well, I'm kind of struck by the thought that, if an audio profile isn't clear enough that it's meaning doesn't make itself immediately apparent to the listener from the start, then it isn't worth putting up. Usually after all proper audio profiles, and by that I mean the user using their own voice to introduce themselves, don't need explination. Everything else, at least in my view, putting up clips from radio shows, clips of songs etc. are pointless and if I had my way, wouldn't even be aloud.

As for the idea of being able to turn off audio profile reviews, why not just, not read them? The Lion's raw for example was perfectly evident as to it's meaning. However it was still a waste of effort listening to it and frankly, I took pleasure in pointing that fact out. If that's not what you wish to read for a review then either don't upload something so utterly rubbish in the first place or, don't read the reviews. It's that simple.

Dan.

...in other words what one considers "rubbish" another may appreciate as say, "fine art to be treasured and of great value..."

well i did think it was not cool that you could rate your own profile, so now you can't. Whatever comments you put or had in your review are now shown at the top of the page. or will be shortly.

Post 16 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 08-Oct-2006 19:30:35

pssh, personally, I'm in full agreement with Dan here.

Post 17 by rdfreak (THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE-BLUE KANGA-KICKIN AUSIE) on Sunday, 08-Oct-2006 19:36:39

yep I agree with dan as well, but it was only for the freaks who don't talk in their own profile I was thinking of. Glad J changed the rating of your own profile though, even though I've been guilty of it myself Lol

Post 18 by Jess227 on Sunday, 08-Oct-2006 19:53:47

What if those who don't want their audio profile reviewed or rated? I mean I hardly have time to come on here. So to me the ratings and review thingy for audio profiles are pointless to me.

I just thought some of us could use the option wheather to turn that on/or off. Regardless if we should or shouldn't have a audio profile. Or if our choice of audio is acceptable or not acceptable.

then don't worry about it, ignore them, and go on with life.
